2019 Wedding Trends at Davenport House

2019 Wedding Trends at Davenport House

2018 has been a remarkable year for weddings… from the wonderful nuptials of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to the stylish autumn wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank.

Elements of these weddings shape the trends for 2019, as do technological advancements, fashion and our constant strive to be more eco conscious and sustainable. It’s certainly an exciting time to be planning a wedding. Let’s take a look at some of our favourite trends.

1. Colour, Colour Everywhere!

We’re seeing the introduction of bold colours throughout all elements of the wedding, from floral arrangements to bridesmaid dresses and table decorations.

“I’m seeing rich orange colours coming through as well as deep colours such as plum, maroon and purple often mixed with pale pinks for contrast,” says Denise from Ginger Lily Florists. “Alongside these bold flower colours, there is a new trend for colourful table linen, brightly coloured glass bottles or vases of all sizes and colours. Be confident, be brave!”

2. The Conscious Couple

Sustainability is a reality. As well as having an impact on the fashion industry it’s becoming of key importance to the wedding sector too. Princess Eugenie’s wedding was reportedly plastic free and we’re expecting to see more and more eco-friendly occasions. It’s time to ditch that single-use plastic, print our stationery on organic or recycled paper and put some thought in to favours. Give homemade jam in re-useable jars or print names on pretty cookies instead of having paper place cards.

3. All About The Tiara

2019 is the year of the tiara! After seeing the stunning designs worn by Meghan and Eugenie this year, we’re in love with the classic ‘princess’ style. And what better place to be a princess for the day than at Davenport House!

4. Tech Savvy Weddings

We’re starting to see an increase in technology at our Davenport House weddings. While we know it doesn’t sound very romantic (and weddings are, of course, all about romance), it really is. Couples want to make sure they capture every moment of their special day, whether using video mapping or sending up a drone to film their day from above. We’re even using projected images to transform the venue. It’s all happening and it’s wonderfully exciting!

5. Inspiration from Nature

Bringing the outside in, couples are looking to embrace nature on their wedding day, sourcing beautiful decorations from the great outdoors. Denise from Ginger Lily Florists is using plants, ferns, herbs, moss, berries, grasses and cones in centrepieces and also notices an increase in the use of succulents. ‘Brides are excited to know that these can be potted up and grown for many years after the wedding as lovely mementos of their special day,” she says.

6. Regal Fashion

Key influences are coming through from the two stunning royal bridal gowns this year, whether you choose a simple silk silhouette gown like the Duchess of Sussex’s Givenchy dress or the ‘princess’ style worn by Princess Eugenie with its elegant low back and beautiful train.

We know that you will feel like a princess on the steps of Davenport House and we look forward to helping you create and live your own royal wedding!

7. Your Menu, Your Way

Personalisation and customisation of the wedding menu is all the rage for 2019. Do it your way, whether you decide to include extra course, create a bespoke wedding breakfast or add in a DIY food and drink station where your guests can help themselves. It is your wedding after all! We appreciate the importance of your special day and our chefs will always try to support your food and drink requirements.

8. Flower Power

The Dahlia, a quintessential British grown flower will be the ‘must-have’ statement flower for 2019. Stunning and versatile, they show off their glorious colours in pastel pinks as well as jewel-like brights for the summer. Dahlias also boast stunning autumnal hues, as seen in Princess Eugenie’s wedding blooms.

And finally… while it’s great to see what’s on trend, we also know that fashions change and colours come and go. The key to a wonderful wedding is to plan a day that suits you and your groom, creating a surrounding that reflects your passions and personalities.
