Old Hollywood Glamour at Davenport House

Old Hollywood Glamour at Davenport House

In September last year, we were delighted to host a strikingly beautiful wedding shoot at Davenport House. Taking inspiration from the iconic Condé Nast publication, Vanity Fair, a sense of drama and ‘Old Hollywood’ glamour was captured on camera by Shropshire photographer Laura May. We hope you’re as inspired by the end results as we are!

Setting the Scene

A fabulous colour scheme of black, sultry greys, deep greens and pops of midnight blue, crimsons and golds, was the perfect choice for such elegant surroundings. These opulent hues were also an ideal reflection of the autumn season, echoing the warmth of nature seen through the magnificent windows of Davenport House.

The light-filled Ballroom and the exquisite marquetry of the Saloon proved to be the perfect backdrop to these lavish colours and textures.

Décor Details

We fell in love with the table design, where richly coloured linens were adorned with blue glassware and china alongside contemporary stationery and luxurious velvet ribbons. A stunning, stacked cake was bold in both style and colour, bringing together the different elements of the day in an artistic focal point.

Bridal Style

With such divine surroundings, our bride needed a statement gown. A beautiful crepe dress with illusion sleeves by La Sposa was complemented by the sophisticated tuxedo worn by the groom. Makeup and hair took inspiration from old Hollywood actresses, with crimson lips to match the roses in the bouquet and a feline flick for dramatic eyes.

All About Flowers

The gorgeous bridal bouquet and table flowers included reds, peaches and blues for impact, with dark foliage to tie in with the country manor charm. Sumptuous roses combined with foliage to create a lavish, decadent display of blooms.
